LEGO Midsize Classic Blue Watch #340807

I love the look of this watch and get many comments on it (and its predecessor that got run over.) I have had two Lego watches before this and both were perfectly waterproof, for swimming anyway. But this one showed a bit of condensation inside its glass one cold winter's day after swimming so now I avoid wearing it in the pool. I would return it but I still have one of the old ones to wear swimming and I love the readability of this watch. The white hands on its large blue face are great for my aging eyes.

What is not obvious at first sight is that the links on these "adult" size watches are almost twice as long as those on the childrens watches and there are not many spare links in the box (but they do include two small links to help with size adjustment.) This means that you are limited as to how many color patterns you can make for the strap. But the links from all the Lego watches are interchangeable so I have simply added some from other watches that I own.

Also the plastic links can get brittle and break after many years of use, while the watch is still going strong. And eventually the links wear a little which allows the bracelet to snap open if you are rough with it - as in trying to take off a jacket with elasticated cuffs while sitting in the car. Unavoidable even with the best quality plastic, but a pity.

One point about assembling the links: until I found the knack I really struggled with this. You need to make sure that the pieces are at 90deg to each other before trying to insert the bar into the hook. Then it is easy because the bar is thinner at that angle.

I used 400 grit sandpaper to smooth the edges, and it's much more comfortable now. 20mm MODENA President/Oyster style Italian Rubber Watch Band, Strap w/ Deployment Buckle

This is a solid rubber watch band molded to look like an oyster style linked bracelet. Being a solid rubber piece, to size it to your wrist you have to cut it to fit and there's no going back so take your time. Modena makes it easy by molding multiple ~1/4" wide parallel segments into the band where it attaches to the clasp. Remove the clasp with a paperclip or springbar tool and using a sharp knife or razor blade slice the segments off one at a time, taking an equal number off each side until it fits. I had to cut, reattach the clasp and test the fit several times before I got it right. The clasp also has several holes for micro adjustment so it's best to leave the strap slightly loose and do the final adjustment at the clasp.

Unlike a lot of dive straps, the rubber is soft and pliant right out of the wrapper so there's no break-in required. Nice quality, looks great with chunky dive watches and you can't beat the price.
