So far I really like this watch. I was a little afraid that it would be too bulky, but that has not been and issue at all. It is on the large side compared to the timex ironman watches I have had in the past, but not so large as to look funny or feel strange.

I chose this one over the Mudman g9000 because of the solar power and atomic clock features. If you don't care about either of these, I would go with the 9000 because it has a slightly better interface and is cheaper.

I read a lot of positive reviews before purchasing the watch. I think I got one of the few lemons with most of the watches working properly. Initially, all of the functions of the watch worked really well. However, after a few weeks just pushing a button would cause the watch to sometimes reset. I took it to the Grand Canyon on a volunteer trip, and it really got bad. The compass function would not work at all. The alarm function was fair. The clock function was OK. I assume that the nearly 20 degree night temperature may have been too much for the watch. All of the functions are working perfectly now that I am back home. I'm coming from an Omega Seamaster Pro 2254.50 (sold already) which has incredible readability in any light conditions (perfect for aging eyes) but with the only drawback of a high priced maintenance premium.

I've been looking for a watch that could replace it and being honest, I looked for:

1) Tissot
2) Seiko
3) Citizen

I went to the mall, looking for official dealers per each one of the manufacturers websites and, before a lot of research, I knew that:

1) Tissot won't honor a warranty for a watch bought on the Internet.
2) Seiko won't honor a warranty for a watch bought on the Internet, unless its clearly stated that the seller is an authorized Seiko reseller.
3) Citizen will honor a purchase from Amazon, being them an authorized reseller.

So, I went to the mall looking for 3 specific watches:

1)Tissot PRC200 Mens Watch T014.410.11.057.00

2) Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Calibre 8700 Watch #BL8000-54A

3) Seiko Men's Kinetic Silver-Tone Watch #SKA347

The Tissot has a very good finish and specs. (sapphire crystal and 200 M water resistance for example)
The things I didn't like about it was that the bracelet was very heavy and there are red hour markings in the inner bezel. The good thing also is a 2 year International warranty) The bad thing: just another quartz watch with no innovations at all.

Then I looked at the Citizen. Everything looked awesome on that watch except the white dial and roman numerals looks like they are made of plastic, not metal, very artificial looking. The Eco Drive feature was a plus but the dial (aside being too busy) was a deal breaker.Also, they use simple mineral crystal and saw a lot of scratches on the face of a different one who belongs to a watchmaker that works at Jared.

At last, I went to Times Square booth (listed on Seiko's website) and started looking for a Kinetic.

First I handed the Premier's: very nice looking but super heavy and then I saw the one I'm reviewing here.

It looked bold, easy to read, uncluttered dial, good lume, Kinetic movement, perfect case size for my wrist, slim profile (compared to the other ones), sits very nice on the wrist, nice bracelet (very similar to Omega's Speedy bracelet), 100 M WR meaning I can use it in the pool, a piece of cake to setup, Hardlex crystal and a 3 year warranty, being the first year International and 2 years valid only in the US and I was sold. I need a watch that just tells the time and the day, that's all. (I don't like busy looking dials with functions that you may never use, although the Citizen's dial caught my eye...on the Internet but NOT in person))

If I decide to criticize something I don't like about the watch is the fact that the hour and minute hands are white painted, not chrome/ polished looking. But this detail makes those hands to pop out a little more, making them easier to read at a glance. Then I remembered my already gone Omega Seamaster which had the same design concept but the opposite way: shiny metal hands filled with Luminova and painted markers, which made that watch so unique.


I've also decided on Seiko because is the ONLY watch company (aside some Swiss manufacturers) that does everything in house. (movement, crystals, bracelet, even the oils used for lubrication)

I can't attest yet on it's durability and accuracy (just got it yesterday) but I will post updates in the future.

PS:I bought this watch and like it very much, although there is something I don't get.

This phone is a cool little gadget. I purchased from gr8er1 and his customer service is impeccable. I ordered it Thursday morning and it was in hand by Saturday morning! Now to the phone itself. Its a great little gadget. A bit chunky on my small wrists but I sport it with pride. Just dont try to wear it with a very femme dress or you will get those looks. Call quality is great if you are using a headset as the built in speaker is very low so its hard to hear your caller but they can hear you as if you are in the room with them. But the speaker functions excellent for music. I sat outside with friends and entertained for hours with music off of my watch. I wont be using this for messages or internet but it does come with a stylus so you can type those characters in with some ease. As for the picture quality, its great for what it is. Pics are clear but not very bright so lights help. Videos play well but may need some conversion. Luckily on the sellers website he lets you know which speeds are optimal. I can have my songs as ringtones which is a plus and it vibrates if you get a call and you activate that setting. Both options are very cool. Also , set up was mega easy. Just slip in the sim card and its ready to rock! I wish the thing was waterproof and it would never come off my wrist. In the box I received 2 batteries w/ 1 charger for charging battery out of the watch, one 2gb sd card(i thought i would get a 4gb because of a past review), 1 usb cord that can connect the watch to your pc or be used with the wall charger to charge the battery inside the watch, one bluetooth headset with ok sound quality(it should have been lounder!), some manuals (I flipped through but they weren't as helpful as the sellers tutorial videos on his site), and the phone itself. This watch is excellent but you may not be able to read the time in the way it is displayed. It shows the time w/ hands so sometimes it may be difficult to read. I have already took it for a spin at the gym and let me say that is sooo much better than lugging my G1 or using my Palm Pilot with the cords all over. I think I will invest in a nice bluetooth headset and that will make my purchase complete. But people, if you are interested in an entry level watch phone get this one! The product arrived in a white cardboard box. You could use wrapping paper around it, but it was totally falling apart, and it would not have been presentable. The watch itself was in a very dirty plastic box. There was some sticky gray dirt (the kind you find on your car when you don't wash it for a while) and a lot of glue on it from labels that had been removed. The watch inside was supposed to be wrapped around a stand for presentation, but instead it was completely loose like it had been vigorously shaken.

On the photos, the watch looks like it is of very good manufacture and the metal very shiny and crisp. But when you have it in your hands, it's a totally different feel: not a very detailed manufacture, even after a cleaning the metal looks dull.

Lastly, if you are still planning to buy this item, make sure you bring it to a jeweler to get it adjusted because it is impossible to do it by yourself. I went to a couple of jewelers already, the first one told me he doesn't have the tools for it; and the second one was asking the same price of the watch to do the adjustment !!
